Ultimately, the point of Klondike is to remove all the cards from the reserve and tableaus and have a full set of four foundations. Lastly, the reserve or deck can be played at any time, but they must be played in accordance to all the other rules, and cards cannot be returned to the reserve. ![]() When this happens, King cards may be moved to the empty tableau to uncover others, and any cards atop the King must follow it. In doing so, tableaus may be completely emptied. However, if the Ace or the Two are covered by other cards, the cards covering them must be removed first. If an Ace is at the bottom of a tableau, it must first be uncovered, as the cards above it cannot be moved to the foundation.įor example, an Ace of Hearts may be placed, followed by a Two of Hearts. However, only one card may be moved to the foundation at a time in ascending order, and they must match in suit. ![]() Foundations are piles that begin with the ace and are set above the tableaus. Whenever an Ace is uncovered, it may be moved to what is referred to as the foundation. Cards may be moved between tableaus at any time as long as these rules are adhered to. In Klondike, cards may also be moved as groups-for example, a 4, 3, and 2 may be moved together on top of a 5. Thus, a spade or club may be placed on a diamond or heart, or vice versa, so long as the card being placed has a lower numerical value. The Rules for MovingĬards in tableaus must be placed in descending order, in alternating colors. They may be placed beside the tableaus or held in the hand. The remaining cards are called the reserve, or deck. It’s customary to spread the cards so that the top of each can be seen, but they can also be squared into piles for added difficulty. Each column will have one card facing up. This process is repeated until the columns range from one single face-up card on the far left to seven cards on the far right. ![]() Thus, there should now be two face-up cards, followed by five sets of two face-down cards. Again, the first card placed should be face up. Next, a single card is placed on each of the cards that are facing down. Thus, in a row, it will be one card face up followed by six face down cards, going left to right. The very first card must be placed facing down in each column, with the exception of the first card. Once properly shuffled, the cards are dealt into seven tableaus or columns, which are built from the left to the right. Jokers are not used, although they can be a great replacement for a missing card. To start a game, a standard 52-card deck is shuffled. ![]() In this regard, Klondike and Solitaire in general can be thought of like chess-it takes minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master. It’s not always easy to win a game of Klondike, but it is easy to understand. Casual players love Klondike for its simple structure and versatility. Many other variations, like Aces Up, feature more difficult rules that pose a serious challenge for veteran Solitaire players. The term “Patience” is primarily used in the United Kingdom, with American players preferring the term “Solitaire.” Regardless of the name they use, when most people think of Solitaire or Patience, they’re thinking of Klondike’s specific set of rules. To clear up the common confusion behind the names, Solitaire and Patience are general names for any single-player card game. Often, when people refer to “Solitaire,” they may be referring to many different variations, and Klondike is the most popular. When it comes to Solitaire, many players are surprised to learn there are seemingly countless variations. Nowadays, it’s easy to play card games like Rummy or Classic Solitaire online, leading many players to discover new versions of classic games that they might never have heard of. ![]() Pre-shredded cheese does not taste as fresh. JLG’s self-leveling technology offers a host of benefits for machine operators and their support crews, including reducing (and in some cases even eliminating) the prep work required to level the work area. “While we’ve upgraded the display, the controls are similar to standard JLG booms, minimizing the learning curve.” “Advanced doesn’t mean complex when it comes to the 670SJ,” says Nate Hoover, director of product management and marketing for boom lifts, JLG. This system continuously receives performance data from various sensors on the machine, then displays the information through a digital display and selectable screen interface in the platform during operation, ensuring users are more knowledgeable about what’s going on at ground level while working at height. And, shipping mode allows the entire machine to be lowered once in position on a truck, reducing its travel height.Īll of these features are made possible through the machine’s advanced control system. Travel mode can be used when the boom is stowed to move across the job site at a faster rate of speed. Self-leveling mode enables the machine to work at full height, with full functionality, on slopes up to 10 degrees. The 670SJ also boasts three operating modes to maximize transportability on site or on the road. This not only allows the machine to continuously and seamlessly self-level, but it does so without requiring operator inputs.” These enable each wheel to separately follow the contour of the terrain and stay in constant contact with the ground. “On the underside of the machine, you can see that it has four independent axles, each controlled by its own smart hydraulic cylinders. “Engineered with the world’s first fully integrated, self-leveling chassis, the 670SJ is a game-changer for the aerial equipment industry,” says Shashank Bhatia, vice president of engineering for MEWPS, JLG. This allows the 670SJ to navigate uneven terrain while driving at height from one job to the other without lowering the boom, leading to significant productivity gains throughout the workday. The 670SJ’s self-leveling technology is designed to adjust the boom lift’s chassis to the ground conditions - rather than having to adjust the ground conditions to the machine. In 1969, he did just that with the introduction of the world’s first boom lift, and today, more than 52-years later, we are doing it again with the launch of the JLG 670SJ self-leveling model.” “Our company was founded with the passion to provide people with a safer way to work at height by John L. “We are extremely excited to bring this transformational innovation to market,” states Robert Messina, senior vice president of global product development and product management, JLG. Also, more people will approach you and ask what your plans are. At least it looks like you're trying to fix it up and on the road to a nice paint job. Also, the "Fake Patina" to me is also cheaping out on a quality job, I mean, seriously! I do enjoy the "Work in progress" look. I like the survivor part of original paint, however I don't like the attempt to keep it by preserving it under a coat of flat clear. That bein said, an "Original" patina is to me one of the coolest looks because the paint and all it's flaws tell a story to someone that's been pounding dents and painting cars for 40 years. My 2 cents, "Patina" is thrown around a lot these days. That may take some more saving before I can have it done. The third car, a '64.5 convertible Mustang deserves better, I'll be paying for a professional to do the body and paint to make it look like new. Then I'll hire someone to pinstripe accents on it to make sure it looks finished as a "patina" style. My plan is to wet sand all of the clear coat off and sand through the color in a few places into the primer. The left side looks good with a few door dings and a couple of scratches, the right side has dents and scrapes from bumper to bumper (thanks grampa ). That being said, my ElCo is all original paint (and dents). I like nice shiny paint most of the time. Awards should be given first to these talented owners. I enjoy going to shows and get togethers where these talented, hard working people are recognized for THEIR work, not just someone like me that has to have much of it done. Here in Region 6, Florida, we have the good fortune to have several members such as 87next2last1, Welder5, Hot Camino and 464elky that are such good examples that not only do their own work but are responsible for so many of us being able to enjoy our rides. As you mentioned the rides in Gaiesville were all so cool and it is particularly nice when people are so interested in someone`s ride that the owner worked on and donated some blood to build. There are so many things that inter into it such as the condition of the car, what can/should you spend, how car is used and were it is parked. I say yes and it is what matters to you that is most important, whether it is a show quality paint job or one you shot in your backyard that you are proud of. As always thanks for voting in the poll and the great responses! So this months question is does it really matter? Obvious a car with a 10 grand paint job will be worth more, look great, shines nice ! But on the other hand at last years Gainesville meet one of our regulars members brought his project Elky that he has been swapping in an LS motor on, the body is a work in progress but I think he had more people checking his out then some of the beautiful restored cars. So back to the poll question, nice paint is nice, great paint is better, patina is cool? and well primer is just what primer is! I always feel crappy that my Elky's paint is so crappy and as I looked through pictures on this months new member posts on FB there are some in primer, some old patina, some nice factory paint, some custom paint. It came out pretty good for all the bad things I have heard about paint shop paint. ![]() They used paint shop paint products for the outside, concrete gray and gloss black. ![]() So now 10 years later they are painting the whole car for the 2021 SEMA show. So I have pretty much moved all of my car shows watching to Youtube, this week a Dupli-color series that was on my suggestion list to watch and it was the 78' Elky project from 10 years ago. |
